The Department of Engineering & Street Maintenance office is located in the Engineering and Street Maintenance building at 208 East Poplar Street. Office hours are 7 am to 3 pm, Monday through Thursday and 6 am to 2 pm on Friday. Other department facilities at this same location include bays for vehicles and equipment storage and maintenance, metal and woodworking shops, salt storage building and storage yard for street maintenance materials.

The Department consists of the Street Superintendent, a Foreman and six full-time employees. With a variety of special skills, these employees allow the City to perform most projects in-house. Local students are also employed in summer months to perform some seasonal tasks. In addition to routine general maintenance of public owned streets, sidewalks and parking lots, other services provided by the department are: Building and mechanical maintenance of City Hall/Community Center building. Construction projects for other City departments. Snow and ice removal from City streets and parking lots. Fall and spring curbside pickup of leaves by vacuum truck and weekly pickup of lawn and garden waste (see rules below).

The City of Robinson provides a disposal site for its residents only, for fallen trees, leaves, tree branches, yard and garden waste and lawn trimmings and provides access by its residents only to the disposal site daily from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm. The City of Robinson does include surveillance of the disposal site with video cameras. The location of the yard waste disposal site is 1000 N. Mitchell Avenue in Robinson (behind the Wastewater Treatment Plant).

Rules for Yard Waste Pickup are as follows:

The City of Robinson provides limited service to its residents (within City Limits) for disposal of tree branches, yard and garden waste and lawn trimmings by picking up, at the curb, on a scheduled basis, such tree branches, yard and garden waste and lawn trimmings, only if such items are bagged or aligned in the same direction neatly in piles that do not exceed 5 feet in length and 50 pounds in weight.

Schedule for yard waste pickup is subject to change, but as a rule, the schedule is as follows: (As of 01/26/2021 per City Council Resolution)

** During the months of November through March, yard waste pickup will be once per month, the first full week of the month starting on a Monday.

Monday – Southeast Quadrant and  Southwest Quadrant (South of Rte 33)

Tuesday – Northwest Quadrant and Northeast Quadrant (North of Rte 33)

Wednesday will be catch up days if for some reason we do not get through the town.

*** During the months of April through October, yard waste pickup will be once per week.

Mondays – Southeast Quadrant and  Southwest Quadrant (South of Rte 33)

Tuesdays – Northwest Quadrant and Northeast Quadrant (North of Rte 33)

Wednesdays will be catch up days if for some reason we do not get through the town.
